DESIGN BY VERNER PANTON
Among the prolific works of Verner Panton, one of Denmark's most playful and provocative talents, the FlowerPot lamp is a cultural emblem that has captured the hearts and minds of an entire era. First launched in '68, the FlowerPot lamp became synonymous with the peace and love movement led by a generation in search of a more open, progressive way of thinking. Add to this the fascination with the future sparked by the space race, and you have the ideal setting for a visionary designer like Panton, who tirelessly sought to challenge the status quo.
Fascinated by fluid forms and a wide spectrum of vibrant colours, Panton conceived this lamp as more than just a source of illumination. He went on to create entire interiors with furniture saturated with psychedelic colours and accented with lamps that appeared in repeated patterns as decorative details. From futuristic furniture fairs to showrooms to contemporary design museums, galleries and private collections, FlowerPots continue to epitomise a unique formula for beauty and simplicity.
