- -Alessandro Mendini was born in Milan in 1931 and was one of the most important innovators in Italian design of the 1980s. He was internationally renowned as an architect, artist, designer, design manager and theorist. He edited leading magazines on design culture and put forward his views on innovation. His long-standing association with Alessi is culturally diverse: he served as the company’s official historian, designed iconic objects such as the Anna G. corkscrew, architect of the Alessi Museum and the extensions to our headquarters in Omegna, as well as various travelling exhibitions, and creator and coordinator of design projects that have helped transform the company into a leading Italian design firm.
