About the producer
- -Masataka Taketsuru, who founded NIKKA WHISKY DISTILLING CO. LTD. in 1934, learnt his trade in Scotland and became Japan's first whisky producer. He played a pioneering role in his Far Eastern homeland. Taktsuru made its breakthrough in the 1960s and can still easily compete with its Scottish rivals today. The north of Japan was chosen as the location for the distillery thanks to the clear air and groundwater filtered through a layer of peat.

Tasting notes
Serve pure and at low room temperature or slightly chilled
- -Deep gold with copper reflections in the glass. Refreshingly fruity on the nose with white peach and sweet, nutty notes. Complex and full of character on the palate, citrus notes with smoky wood and surprising sweetness. Long finish with an intense peaty flavour.
