- -Where the sea meets the sky! The Horizon bedspread takes its name from the horizon line, and its distinctive colour gradient from dark to light forms the natural motif. The bedspread is available in a range of beautiful colours and can, of course, be combined with matching cushions in the same pattern and colour scheme – for a harmonious overall look on your bed or sofa. The Horizon collection, with its subtle interplay of colours and sophisticated pattern, is the result of exceptionally fine craftsmanship in Peru and thus embodies the essence of Elvang to a great extent. Horizon is woven from a blend of recycled sheep’s and alpaca wool. This special combination of fibres makes it lightweight, hard-wearing and soft at the same time. The recycled wool is processed by local suppliers in Peru. This means that the wool comes from other production processes and would otherwise be considered waste. By unravelling the wool, the original fibres are revealed, from which new yarn can be spun and woven into new textiles. In this way, Elvang helps to utilise existing resources which, instead of being thrown away, are given a new lease of life with us. As a certified member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO), Elvang holds the highest level of Fairtrade certification. This guarantees that the blanket is woven under conditions that are responsible towards the environment, people and animals. Wool does not usually need to be washed or dry-cleaned, as the material has self-cleaning properties and the fibres have a unique structure that repels odours and dirt. The natural oils in the wool provide additional protection by forming a film that prevents, for example, bacteria from penetrating the fabric. This means that frequent washing or cleaning is unnecessary. Should your blanket nevertheless need cleaning, we recommend dry cleaning to preserve its beautiful finish for as long as possible.
