- -The ‘Lava’ blanket is voluminous and warm, just like the volcanic lava of the same name – one of nature’s most fascinating phenomena. The material consists of a blend of soft alpaca wool with a small amount of nylon. The yarn gives the surface its distinctive character: a bouclé yarn with small loops that add extra volume and create a characteristically fluffy surface which retains heat without compromising on lightness. ‘Lava’ is available in three beautiful variations featuring wide coloured stripes on a warm cream-white background: a modern moss green and pink, an elegant blue-grey and brown, and the classic navy blue and sky blue. ‘Lava’ is woven from the finest alpaca wool, blended with a small amount of nylon for added durability. Alpaca fibres are widely recognised for being softer, more durable and better at regulating temperature than other natural fibres. Blankets and cushions made from alpaca wool also shed very little, meaning they generally last longer than comparable materials. The wool is hypoallergenic as it contains no lanolin and is therefore suitable for people with allergies. Elvang is certified to the highest standard as a guaranteed member of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO). This guarantees that the blanket is woven under conditions that are responsible towards the environment, people and animals. Wool generally does not need to be washed or dry-cleaned, as it has self-cleaning properties and the fibres have a unique structure that repels odours and dirt. The natural oils in the wool provide additional protection by forming a film that, for example, prevents bacteria from penetrating the fabric. This means that frequent washing or cleaning is unnecessary. Should your blanket nevertheless require cleaning, we recommend dry cleaning to preserve its beautiful finish for as long as possible.
