Horl - high-quality kitchen tools from Germany
The history of the German company dates back to 1993, when Ottmar Horl was working as a design manager in the mechanical engineering department. He wanted to develop a knife sharpener that would deliver an absolutely precise sharpening experience as well as being visually appealing in the kitchen. At the same time, the kitchen appliance needed to be easy to use for everyone. He produced the first design drawings, but discarded the idea and his ideas remained in a drawer. Years later, his son discovered the plans and was immediately enthusiastic. A kitchen tool that looked good, that people enjoyed using and that delivered excellent results had to be successful. He persuaded his father to turn the idea into reality and the two of them founded the company Horl. The young start-up manufactured the first roller grinders for knives in their basement, but the company quickly developed into a larger project. Customers were impressed by the combination of functionality and design. This is exactly what you will now find in the wide range of products in your Globus online shop.
Premium knife sharpener in an elegant design
The German family-run company Horl prioritises high quality for its knife sharpeners. Every built-in element looks good and is made of well thought-out, functional material. The grinding discs are set with industrial diamonds and are suitable for all types of knife steel. The small abrasive particles have a size in the micrometre range and enable sharpening without adding water. If the knife sharpeners are used properly, the grinding disc will last a lifetime. Each model has a honing disc on the underside, which smoothes the blade after sharpening. Depending on the model, this is made of stainless steel or ceramic. This ensures that any metal shavings are removed cleanly. Inside, highly efficient gears ensure the rotary movement of the roller sander. To ensure that you always sharpen your kitchen knives at the ideal angle, the company offers various sharpening angles that hold the knife securely in place magnetically and with an anti-slip pad.
Unique wooden design as an eye-catcher in the kitchen
The grinder and angle handpieces are made from exquisite walnut or robust oak. Alternatively, the brand offers a body made of durable stainless steel with an aesthetic and functional coating. These are simple kitchen tools that not only ensure sharp knives, but also offer a pleasant feel. Whether wood, stainless steel or aluminium components, the bodies fit securely in the hand. And by the way, they also look good. As there is no single aesthetic requirement for every taste, Horl offers its knife sharpeners in various designs. These fit into modern as well as timeless and rustic kitchens. To satisfy even the most demanding chefs, the company manufactures sharpeners with replaceable and permanently integrated grinding discs.
