- -The Plastic Chairs RE are among the most famous designs by Charles and Ray Eames. One model in particular has always stood out from the large family of chairs: the Rocking Armchair Rod Base (RAR). Despite its compact dimensions, it also offers comfort for tall people and the seat shell made of post-consumer recycled plastic is also available with a seat or full upholstery.
This makes the RAR a fully-fledged armchair that, with its iconic shape and rocking chair base on wooden runners, not only makes a confident statement in any living room, but also in lounges, relaxation areas and waiting areas of all kinds.
New in recycled post-consumer plastic From January 2024, the seat shells of Vitra's Eames Plastic Chairs will be made from recycled post-consumer plastic. The chairs are now called Eames Plastic Chairs RE. The recycled material comes from the German household recycling collection "Yellow Bag", i.e. primarily from used packaging. Compared to the previous plastic, the use of this recycled material causes fewer climate-damaging emissions and consumes significantly less energy. - -Made in Germany
