INTO THE DIGITAL AGE
2003
Opening of Globus am Bellevue in Zurich: all about indulgence. Today, over 2000 guests visit the innovative take-away with its cosmopolitan ambience every day. A milestone in western Switzerland is the opening of the spacious ***delicatessa with food hall in the Globus in Geneva.
2007
The "Magazine zum Globus" celebrates its 100th birthday.
2013
Globus takes over the Schild fashion store, making it the clear number one in the mid-range and upmarket clothing market.
2014
Globus goes online. Discover wine, home textiles and fashion in the new online shop. 2016 sees the launch of the new Globus online shop in April. The entire Globus range is now online - over 80,000 items are now available online.
2020
The two owner-managed family companies SIGNA and Central Group take over Magazine zum Globus AG in a 50:50 joint venture.
The new owners have unique expertise in the retail and property business in Europe and Asia, and Globus will become part of a family of luxury department stores that also includes the Italian Rinascente, KaDeWe with Oberpollinger and Alsterhaus (Germany) and Illum in Denmark.
Franco Savastano is to become the new CEO of Magazine zum Globus AG. Savastano has close ties with the high-quality Swiss retail trade and, with his decades of experience, is ideally placed to successfully position Globus in the European department stores' group.
2022
Since August 2022, the department stores have alsoSELFRIDGES & CO, Brown Thomas, Arnotts and De Bijenkorfto the European Luxury Department Store Group.
2024
In September 2024, the Central Group (a family-owned retail, property and hospitality conglomerate) will take over Magazine zum Globus AG. The business of all nine Globus stores will thus become the sole property of the Central Group. The ownership structure of the Globus Switzerland property company will remain unchanged.
