How To
Set a festive table
Setting a festive Easter table? Nothing could be easier.
One of the best things about Easter is the festively decorated table. When the whole family and best friends come together at the Easter table, it should of course be decorated in a particularly atmospheric way. And because Easter is also a spring festival, it is a wonderful way to welcome spring with cheerful colours, fresh flowers and sprouting branches.
Easter is also a spring festival
Flowering branches of cherry trees and other fruit trees, fluffy willow catkins, bright yellow forsythia or orange-coloured ornamental quinces are almost a tradition and real eye-catchers. It's best to cut them off on Maundy Thursday so that they can develop their full splendour in lukewarm water until Easter Sunday. Instead of placing them in a vase on the Easter table, they look particularly beautiful if you lay them decoratively across the table and also drape a few small branches or individual flowers on the napkin.
If you don't have the time or inclination to dye eggs but would like to present your Easter guests with freshly boiled eggs, you can easily turn them into attractive eye-catchers. All you need is some string or cord to wrap around the eggs. Tip: Place the eggs in cold water for 3 - 4 minutes after boiling. This makes them easier to peel later.
Stylish is also easy
An ingenious trick to visually spice up the table without too much effort is to put together matching crockery. So don't just place flat plates on the table, but use the layering principle by placing smaller plates, bowls and dishes on top of or next to them. The icing on the cake for the Easter table is an Easter tradition from Portugal: almonds! Scattered loosely on the table or in small heaps.
