How To
Make your own granita
Granita, also known as granité, is the original version of sorbet. However, unlike sorbet, which is prepared in an ice cream maker and has a soft, creamy consistency without hard ice crystals, granita is coarse-grained. When preparing this icy delicacy, you only need to follow four rules: 'Squeeze, freeze, scratch & serve'! Squeeze: Squeeze fruit juice and mix 1:1 with homemade sugar syrup (Making sugar syrup) mix. Freeze: Pour the mixture into a shallow container and place in the freezer. 'Scratch': After about an hour, remove from the freezer and stir everything loosely with a fork to break up the ice crystals. Repeat 2-3 times until the desired, coarse consistency is achieved and the ice crystals are still slightly noticeable. 'Serve': To serve, scrape out of the container into glasses or bowls.
