Please never use lighter fluid, fuel cubes or fuel paste when lighting the fire. Such products contain artificial additives such as petrol and other substances that can affect the flavour of the food being grilled. It takes a little patience to get embers that are perfect for barbecuing. The embers are only ready when the charcoal or wood is glowing all the way through and a fine, white layer of ash forms on the surface.
