How To

Cut mango correctly

As with most really tasty fruits, mangoes require some work to get to the flavourful inside. You can't just peel them like a pineapple, because the flesh is strongly attached to the not exactly small stone and a ripe mango would be literally crushed in the process.

The following procedure promises a remedy: Using a sharp knife, cut the fruit into two elliptical halves on the left and right of the flat sides of the stone, i.e. along the wide side and the whole fruit.

What remains is some pulp with the stone in the centre. This can be sucked like a large sweet to ensure that all of the delicious fruit is used. The two halves are cut crosswise on the flesh side without scoring the skin.

Then turn the flesh outwards and remove the flesh in cubes or serve the whole half, it looks very decorative and the kitchen is spared a mango battle.
